The first of our four 2018 events took place on 16th March in Nottingham. Representatives from a range of organisations and interested individuals attended an informative session that generated a full discussion on EU matters and of course, Brexit.
The audience were treated to presentations from three eminent speakers from Nottingham Trent University. Professor Robert Ackrill provided an insight into the UK’s trading relationship with the EU27 and a comparative analysis with the rest of the world. We also received an explanation of how trade agreements work and the four freedoms of the European Single Market.
Robert was then joined by Christopher Lawton, Senior Research Fellow, who explained international migration and the local economy.
The final slot was delivered by Alfonso Valero, Principal Lecturer at Nottingham Law School, who was able to discuss freedom of movement in a Brexit context. A topic that stimulated much debate given the current negotiations.
We are grateful to our contributors, feedback from the audience was very positive. Please visit our website for information on future events or email firstname.lastname@example.org and asked to be subscribed to our monthly newsletter.
