On Monday 2nd July, it was revealed that the government have developed a possible third model for the UK’s post-Brexit customs arrangements.
No details have been released about the possible customs plan, but it is distinct from the two options so far presented – the maximum facilitation option, and the customs partnership. The Guardian’s sources suggest the alternative trade agreement could mirror Canada’s partnership with the EU.
The two customs arrangements that were previously put forward, the Maximum Facilitation (Max-Fac) solution and the Customs Partnership, can be read in our May Newsletter HERE
We will update our website and release another blog post once more information is gathered. May and senior ministers will discuss it at Chequers, the prime minister’s country retreat, on Friday- it is hoped that more will be revealed to the public by next week.
