With talk of a possible early General Election in the UK it is important that eligible voters are registered and take part in the democratic process. UK nationals who live abroad, including in the EU can register to vote if they meet the following criteria:
- you’re a British or eligible Irish citizen
- you were registered to vote in the UK within the previous 15 years (or, in some cases, if you were too young to have registered when you left the UK)
If you want to vote in England, Scotland or Wales, register to vote in the normal way.
If you want to vote in Northern Ireland, you need to register by post.
You have to renew your registration every year. You’ll get a reminder when it’s time to renew.
Follow the link below to start your online registration. You will need:
- your National Insurance number
- your passport if you’re a British citizen living abroad, and want to vote in England, Scotland or Wales
